Hepatitis - Be positive

HBV, hepatitis B virus, whichever way you put it, it means the same thing. IT IS NOT FUN. Hepatitis B is irritation and swelling of the liver due to infection of the virus.

Hepatitis B is known as a blood-borne virus because it is transmitted from one person to another from blood or fluids contaminated with blood. Another route is from an infected mother to a newborn child, which occurs during or shortly after birth.
Most of the damage caused by hepatitis is self-inflicted, the body sends out special cell’s to try to fight it off. Those cells lead to liver inflammation.
Now that you know what HBV is I can tell you what to look for if you think there’s a chance you might have it.
You may not have any symptoms, you may feel sick for a period of days or weeks or you may feel very ill.
Sometimes if your body is able to fight off hepatitis B, any symptoms that you had should go away over a period of weeks to months. Although, some people's bodies are not able to completely get rid of the hepatitis B infection. This is called chronic hepatitis B. Many people who have chronic hepatitis B have few or no symptoms. They may not even look sick. So, they may not know they are infected. They can still spread the virus to other people. Symptoms may not appear for up to 6 months after the time of infection. Some symptoms are: Appetite loss, Fatigue, Fever, low-grade, Muscle and joint aches, Nausea and vomiting, Yellow skin and dark urine due to jaundice.

If left untreated HBV can cause cervical cancer, liver damage, and liver failure.

During Pregnancy :HBV can be passed to child. Pregnant women with chronic hepatitis usually have a normal pregnancy, and complications appear only if cirrhosis develops. Cirrhosis leads to portal hypertension and esophageal varietal hemorrhage, which could lead to maternal mortality.

There is no complete cure for Hepatitis B.

The most common cure for Hepatitis B is time. There is a vaccine to prevent Hepatitis B. For individuals who need treatment, seven drugs have been approved by the FDA for the treatment of Hepatitis B, but these are not a cure. All they do is stop it from multiplying.

One way to prevent HBV is to get a vaccine and a booster a couple years later to make sure you as safe as possible from getting it. Also, making sure you partner has been tested. One more thing is make sure you use protection.
